RCSI Conferring Ceremonies


Information for Graduands

Registration
All graduands must register their attendance to the Conferring Ceremony online. Candidates who are unavailable to attend the Conferring must register online and select their award and the ‘in absentia' option.

Tickets
Each candidate will receive 2 guest tickets to the Conferring Ceremony (candidates do not require a ticket). Unfortunately, there will be no extra tickets available due to large numbers being conferred.

The Conferring Ceremony will take place in the Examination Hall in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, St Stephens Green at 15.00 on Thursday 15th November. Doors will open 1hour prior to the ceremony; guests must produce their tickets at the entrance to the Examination Hall. Guests will not be permitted to enter without a ticket.
Children under the age of 12 are not permitted into the Conferring Hall.

Hire of Academic Dress
Correct academic dress must be worn at graduation. Gowns must be ordered online through Phelan Conan Ltd by using the pre-booking facility at www.phelanconan.com
Please select ‘Student Hire' and ‘RCSI' and follow the instructions. The reference number should be taken with you once collecting your gown.

You must pre-book your gown with Phelan Conan before Sunday 11th November 2012. Please note that no orders will be accepted on the day of the Conferring.
It is essential that you select the correct faculty and award otherwise you are in danger of being conferred in the incorrect robe.

The cost of hiring a gown is €45.00 and a booking deposit of €155.00 is required to pre pay for your gown, this deposit will be refunded back onto your credit card once your gown has been returned to Phelan Conan.
The online booking facility will be available from Monday 10th September 2012.

Robes must be returned to Phelan Conan immediately following the conferring ceremony in the Atrium, RCSI. Failure to do so will result in the loss of your deposit.

On the day of your conferring it is recommended that you bring safety pins and hair clips with you to secure your cap and hood.

Collection of Robes & Guest Tickets:
Guest tickets and gowns may be collected as follows:
Wednesday 14th November 2012
Atrium, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
12noon - 16.00

Please arrange to collect your gown and tickets during the time indicated above. If you cannot attend, you may send someone to collect them on your behalf.

Conferring Ceremony - Schedule of Events
You are requested to be in attendance at 13.30am sharp and arrangements will be as follows:

Photographs / Video Recording
Bobby Studios are the official college conferring photographer. They will be in attendance to take photographs of graduands and their guests on the day. Photographs can be purchased directly from Bobby Studios, 10 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2. Tel: 01 6773332

The RCSI Media Services Department will record the ceremony. Please contact them directly should you wish to purchase a copy. Tel: 01 402 2170
No other video company will be permitted to enter he Conferring Hall.

Graduate Ties
If you wish to wear a graduate tie, these can be purchased from the Student Services office, RCSI. Please contact them at studentservices@rcsi.ie . Please note that ties must be ordered and collected well and advance of the day of the ceremony. Ties will not be available to purchase on the day.
